A&S College Representative on Ph.D. Committees Policy

The purpose of the Dean’s Representative is to serve as an independent observer on the advisory committee. 他们的职责是确保学生受到公平对待，确保学校的政策、程序和标准得到维护。  出于这些原因，并为了减少任何利益冲突的感觉，院长代表应从与学位授予项目不同的部门或项目中选出，并且不得与委员会的任何其他成员有家庭或商业关系。 The Dean’s Representative need not function as a scholarly contributor to the dissertation.  Preferably, the representative should be from within A&S, but exceptions can be made with permission of the Dean’s office, which holds sole right of approval. Appointment of the Dean’s Representative, and assignment of committee members must be submitted to the Dean’s office no less than 30 days prior to the dissertation committee’s first meeting.
